Hammer 2019 Film Review:

I’ve been following Mark O’Brien’s career and Will Patton is an actor I admire. The movie is filled with excellent actors giving it their all but in the end the performances are the only reason to watch this wholly unbelievable movie. O’Brien and Patton are giving 200% but the writer/director of this drivel completely let them down. The situations go from unrealistic to preposterous and then the movie just sort of peters out.

Drug addicts, drug running and not one second of this movie rings true. Sad to say, I know real life people in these situations and everything that takes place in this film qualifies as “this only happens in the movies nonsense”. Canada is known for churning out garbage and in this tale, that should have been dark and gritty , writer/director Christian Sparkes turned an unpleasant story into some kind of sappy message movie. It’s a shame that so many great actors wasted their time on a film that had me rolling my eyes in disbelief. Still, it was worth it to see O’Brien again, and I hope someone finally gives him a role worthy of his talent.
